
Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is in southeast Alaska and includes over 3 million acres consisting of marine life, tidewater glaciers, mountains, ocean coastline, deep fjords, freshwater rivers and lakes. Mountain ranges in the park, for example The Fairweather, rise up to 15,320 feet. Ice at the front of glaciers ranges from 75 – 200 yrs old. There are no roads to the park so to enter, visitors come via plane or ferry through its closest neighbouring town Gustavus.
Visitors come to Glacier Bay for a variety of reasons. For example, research, inspiration, to see glaciers, for adventure, family time or solitude. A full day cruise through Glacier Bay on a high speed catamaran is a popular way to see the park. A Park Ranger will accompany the tour and is available for you to ask questions. The cruise covers the western arm of Glacier Bay and provides excellent opportunities to view marine and wildlife including whales, seals, bears and moose.
