What's a tailored group tour?Tailored group tours are specifically designed for those who would like a customised itinerary with the option of a guide. Although these groups generally range in size from 6 to 15 people, we can also organise tours for larger numbers. Previous examples of groups that have chosen the tailored package option include: walking clubs, teachers, friends, car clubs and associations. We have contacts with a large number of local suppliers across the world, which allows us to confidently design and organise tours to a wide range of destinations. The key steps for designing and developing a tailored group tour are very similar to those described for personalised tour packages. In most cases, the cost for this type of tour is very competitive. These tours can either be self guided or we can organise an experienced tour leader to accompany the group. | |
Self Guided: Group of FriendsA group of friends asked us to help develop an extensive itinerary that included Alaska, Western Canada, East Coast Canada and USA. The friends were all travelling onto Europe after the completion of the tour, so we based the flights on round world airfares. This was a very extensive itinerary and we wanted to ensure there was plenty of variety in transportation to help keep the tour interesting. The itinerary included travel by ferry, train, light plane, coach and rental vehicles. Guided: Members of Sydney Based ClubA four week guided tour to Alaska and Canada for a large group of friends and acquaintances. The group wanted to stay in clean and comfortable hotels and view the magnificent scenery. They weren’t interested in a traditional big cruise ship package as this didn’t suit their style and interests. We developed an itinerary that visited some of the better known cities and towns like Vancouver, Victoria, Banff, Denali National Park and Anchorage. This was coupled with multiple night stays in fascinating smaller towns like Wrangell, Haines and Dawson City that are not generally known visited by tourists. |
Guided Tour: Walking EnthusiastsWe were approached by twelve members of a Melbourne based walking club to help arrange a tour. One of our own tour leaders travelled with the group and looked after the various arrangements. The four week tour included Vancouver and Victoria, Rocky Mountaineer, Canadian Rockies, Inside Passage, Yukon and Interior Alaska. For most people in the group, the most memorable part of the tour was a 4 day/3 night trip from Wrangell up the Stikine River to the remote communities of Telegraph Creek and Glenora. The itinerary also included a series of short walks and hikes in different locations. Self Guided Tour: Motorhome GroupSeven week tailored tour for three couples that were all motorhome enthusiasts. In conjunction with members of the group, we developed an Alaska and Canada itinerary, which included a combination of motorhome rental, travel on Alaska Marine Ferries, rail journeys and a variety of different sightseeing tours. Self Guided Tour: FamilyA family of fourteen, ranging in age from teenagers through to grandparents in their eighties, were attending a family re-union on the East Coast of USA. We organised a tour of the Inside Passage and Western Canada that ‘tied in’ with the dates for the family re-union. Highlights included a three night stay in Wrangell where they went on sightseeing tours to view bears and glaciers, travelling through the Inside Passage on Alaska Marine Ferries, a two day rail trip across Western Canada and tour of the Canadian Rockies. |
